w/Jessica Magnan and Dariya Quenneville
The Intermingling of Yogic Philosophy and Neuroplasticity for the modern Yogi
— 5-8 PM —
This two-part workshop consists of two 3-hour sessions that will include lecture, asana, breathwork and guided meditation.
The first session will focus on the 8 Limbed Path of Yogic Tradition as a preparation and foundation for self-study during the two weeks in between the first and second session. Students will be given homework based on what we cover in the first session and a daily practice to keep during this period.
The second session will begin with a lecture on the concept of Neuroplasticity and use the homework from the first session to move into some focused writing to create a vision of some desired life circumstance. This session will include a longer guided meditation using visualization coming from students’ written work.
The aim of this two-part workshop is to arm students with a better understanding of the meditation process and the why behind it. Drawing from Ancient Eastern Wisdom as well as Modern Science, this is a way to return students to a sense of empowerment and excitement about what is possible with a little devotion and attention.
After 6 years teaching yoga while seeking growth, healing and MORE from the practice—Jess has come to be known for her meditative dialogue in class. She is excited and grateful to be able to share a more focused exploration of the practices that have helped her to heal and transform. She is always of the mindset that ‘to teach is to learn’ and that we are being called to Mastery each time we feel uncomfortable, it is time to answer the call. Together.
Through her teachings, Dariya aims to recapture the essence of yoga—the state of being connected to yourself, others and to all aspects of the world through cOMmunity oriented practice. Using language of invitation and inquiry, space is created for students to make clear choices based on their own experiences during movement, breathing techniques and meditation. Dariya’s heart-centered approach encourages one to let their intuition guide them, cultivating a friendly relationship with body, breath and mind, on and off the mat.
We would like to extend an opportunity for one participant to join our workshop for free.
This free entry will be determined on the basis of a short paragraph explaining potential student’s desire and reasoning for participation.
