Elevate with Nigel
200hr Yoga Teacher Training

Are you ready for your next big step?

We’re delighted to host our third annual yoga teacher training program with Nigel Walker (E-RYT 200®). This seven-month program takes you through the ins and outs of a well-rounded yoga practice as a platform for creating a fulfilling, balanced life.

What makes this program unique is Nigel’s ability to help students find their unique expression. Whether you dream of changing careers, teaching yoga part-time, or simply want to deepen your personal yoga practice, this program is for you! Through a combination of modern and traditional approaches to movement and mindfulness, you will learn to better know yourself and navigate the world around you. After graduating, your one-on-one mentorship with Nigel begins, where you have the opportunity to refine your skills as a teacher or to work on personal and professional goals for the future.

Program is full!

“You can go your whole life looking for something outside of yourself for satisfaction, gratification and approval… or you can recognize everything you need is already within you.”

Nigel Walker

Your Teacher Trainer

Based in Toronto, Nigel Walker leads yoga teacher trainings and retreats internationally and is a faculty member at yoga festivals such as City of Om, Emerge and Wanderlust. Not your typical yogi, he discovered yoga out of necessity after a debilitating knee injury getting up out of his office chair. Yoga didn’t come naturally to him, but it turned out to be the holistic approach to health and well being that he needed.

Over a decade later, Nigel’s mission is twofold: to share the gift of yoga with as many people as possible, and to highlight the connection between mental, physical and emotional aspects of being human.

Nigel has been featured in Elephant Journal and Magazine and was recently named Ottawa’s Top Yoga Instructor for 2015 and 2017 (FACES Magazine). He is known for his authentic approach to teaching and living yoga and is a strong supporter of community events such as Glow Yoga and Parliament Hill Yoga.

  • Is the program open to students looking to deepen their understanding of yoga and personal practice and don't necessarily want to teach?

Yes, our program is designed in modules that cover everything from personal development, the yoga practice and teaching. While everyone will learn how to teach, what you do with the program is up to you!

  • What happens if I miss some weekends?

Nigel is able to accommodate you missing one weekend, but you would have to complete extra assignments and use your mentor hours with him to cover any important material.

Anything more than a weekend, unfortunately, would not be accepted since you have to complete a certain number of hours with Nigel to earn your certification.

  • Why are the training sessions spread out far apart?

Our training is spread out over 7 months to allow for deeper integration. Intensives are great, but a long-term program gives you a better chance of absorbing the information covered in the course and better prepares you for teaching in the real world

  • Outside of class hours, how much homework will there be?

To get the most out of the program, there will be take home assignments at the end of each weekend. This homework should be no more than a couple of hours per week, but like most things, the more you put in the more you get out. The program is designed so that anyone working full-time or pursuing other studies will be able to successfully complete all requirements.

  • What type of yoga training do you offer?

The training is based in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga traditions with a holistic focus.

  • Do you offer free yoga class for trainees during the weekday?

Each trainee receives a 20-Class Bundle for Elevate—giving full access to classes on our schedule. Trainees are free to use the classes as they please. In addition, trainees receive a 20% discount on their purchase of class passes and bundles.

  • Do successful graduates have an opportunity to be instructors at Elevate? What criteria do you use for hiring them?

We are always open to interviewing graduates for teaching opportunities at Elevate. To help our graduates get started with their teaching experience, they will have the opportunity to teach Community Classes at Elevate.
